top 10s of 2008

88 days were just asked about our top 10 albums of 2008. We put our heads together, and now we’re happy with this. To be honest, we’re not really ones for looking at releases in terms of calendar years. We get lost. And we get stuck listening to our Roxy Music records and missing every new release for two months. But we’ll play the game, if you ask.
Portishead - Third [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
Lulu Rouge - Bless You [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
Lindstrom - Where You Go I Go To [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
Johnny Foreigner - Waited Up Til It Was Light [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
Sportsday Megaphone - So Many Colours / So Little Time [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
Rolo Tomassi - Hysterics [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
Eine Kleine Nacht Musik - Eine Kleine Nacht Musik [amazon / iTunes / Rough Trade]
all of them are bloody excellent.
We saw Johnny Foreigner last night supporting The Futureheads at the Astoria, and we grinned our little faces off.
2009? off the tops of our heads, we’re awaiting new albums from Sky Larkin, Hervé, Good Books, Murcof. And Blur?? We’ve not much of a memory for this Gregorian calendar system, though, so there’s probably more to it than that. there must be, surely. Maybe we’ll come back to the issue. But, well, maybe not.
