88 days in my veins

K.I.N.G.S.B.U.R.Y

Kingsbury are an interesting lot, they mention Radiohead in their biog along with Low. Yet, it’s not Radiohead I hear, no no no, I hear a hell of a lot of the Dirty Three, Tom Waits and Mogwai. Indeed, in texture, in structure and in melody i hear rather different influences. Equally wonderful. Oddly they’re from Florida and not from Seattle or Scotland, FLORIDA! There’s this lush slide guitar (pardon my ignorance if it’s not slide) but it’s really emotive, moving and ace. Quite unlike many of the artists we’ve so far posted on 88days, this really hit the spot with me this evening.

Actually - it’s fairly typical of the music my dearest flatmate listens to, so this is as much a dedication to him as it is to the music itself. A good friend, a good man, a good dude - you can do whatever you wish. Life is your luxury.

Sign up to the bands mailing list and give them some dosh to help with everything they’re doing right now. I’m pulled towards the tinged melancholy and dark beauty of ‘Lie To Me’, but ‘Back In the Orange Grove’ has an indescribable inner beauty.

Welcome to 88 days in my veins. We usually write from London. Although sometimes we're caught between Brighton, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin and Great Malvern.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center. Kurt Vonnegut
