Where were you in ‘92? EDIT.
It had to happen, we’d consumed the 80’s this year with MGMT, Ladyhawke and synths taking over the world, and now we find ourselves in circa ‘95. Zomby bring together all the essential elements of dance music in 1995, jungle, d&b and two step with those typically feminine and dreamy vocals. HELTER SKELTER ANYONE? I keep coming back to this record time and time again, and whilst we can’t post an mp3, please check out his myspace and bits on Kode 9’s hyperdub
Mr Zomby hated me posting an mp3, actually he got very angry. He didnt like the blog either - ahh well - it’s still a great record. A few years ago a man called Burial dropped his debut album, it picked up a lot of great press in the right areas - the next generation picked up on it - a year later the new record dropped and Will Bevan / Burial is now one of the worlds most respected musicians. Zomby seems to have followed a similar path with Fact Magazine and Rough Trade gloating about the greatness of the lp. I’m posting this post despite him being an utterly rude git because the music speaks more to me than his attitude.
