Dear Miss Mitchell
We’re already spoken of our admiration for young Florence and The Machine this week - and rightly so, she sits nicely at the top of the popular charts in the UK with her debut album ‘Lungs’. The problem with this blogging lark is, tracks are judged often, rather than bodies of work - thusly we initially supported La Roux and to a lesser extent Little Boots, only to now have been sufficiently bored by their antics. Oddly, here’s an artist that we have heard, Miss Lisa Mitchell - of Melbourne Australia. Her debut album ‘Wonder’ pops up in a few months and it’s a funny one. The album is essentially a guide through the eyes of a 19 year old starlet in todays complex and oddly detached world - varnished in hope and love and appreciation, charm and love. She carries a wonderful note and can clearly write a melody (yes, a Beatles inspired melody, seek no further than the infectious ‘Neopolitan Dreams’ (find it on myspace and elsewhere)
