Lazy for tooo long
At times of crisis a man must ask himself how he can recover his sense of self and to regain the edge that once made him a man rather than a chicken. There are certain entities that will forever be an inspiration for my dark side and spark by rage, these certain entities do little to curb the disdain that their publics holds them in.
Apparently rejected by the label, management or SMD themselves, this is perhaps my favorite mix of Audacity - we’ve already posted the video. A typical Allez-Allez mix with ode to Italo and old skool disco stompers. The vocal is a relative departure from the rest of the mixes - whilst retained that crisp production that both acts are famed for.

Moving onwards, there’s been a great deal of talk about who the real winners (and to a point survivors) of the most hyped artists of the ‘09 are likely to be. Despite both La Roux and Little Boots being marketed directly to the blog tastemakers and gatekeepers of cool - with exceptional taster tracks and some fine fine remix work - they are likely to fail on the back of bad PR, bad videos, and patchy records. That said, the true voice of 09 looks to be Florence Welch. Found by the boys at Moshi Moshi a little while back and signed over to Island records, Florence has delivered an album of startling brilliance. No flash singles, just an onslaught of amazing songwriting, perfect production, album fluidity, style, grace and unnerving ability to capture a moment. She thrills me in every way - a real talent for 2009.
MP3: Florence And The Machine: Postcards From Italy (originally by Beirut)
The reality is 12 months on, and I’ve failed to deliver, on some of my ambitions. There is such a plethora of amazing music around and once again we find the independent music sector at the core of it - One Handed Music, a London based boutique label run by a genius young man called Alex Chase (of Stones’ Throw) is housing albums by Paul White and Bullion - we’ve already worn our allegiance of these two fine acts on here previously.
MP3: Bullion: Mix live from Sonar Festival 2009
I didn’t make it to Sonar this year, by my calculations, the first time in a good few years I’ve not made it - bugger. Partly because I looked at the line up, saw Mary Anne Hobbs with a stage, Ed Banger with a stage and thought fuck that. I just feel that given so many great new labels (No Pain in Pop, One Handed Music, Tectonic etc) it’s time for some fresh blood. Remember, MAH and EB have had stages for the last 3 years and really, have Ed B offered us anything new? Apparently Pusy B wants to sign a new guitar band, but like, aren’t Justice really a guitar band anyway? Exactly, and aside from signing Breakbot - the whole movement of the label is slowly dying through a lack of freshness and innovation. Innovate or die.
Sent to me at the tail of last week, with the rather unlike PR mailer words of ‘”Golau Glau” are two of our favorite words that go well together. The noises in our heads keep leaking out” - one must check out huh.
Finally, this blog was formed off the back of a mutual love of one band specifically, in fact we both met through this band, this band is called Good Books, previously Goodbooks - now deceased. JOCKS a recent manifestation of 1/4 of Good Books brings us all hope that such musical talent will not be wasted.

bad videos and patchy albums is definitely relevant.
bad pr = la roux and her rant of last week, plus a patchy album.
truth is, florence is the star, the other two are short term stop gaps.
